Stay fit!
Our mission is to get people involved and active. A healthy weight falls into this statement, but our real aim is just to get people moving and enjoying it. Our services reflect this goal in the wide variety of physical activities and educational services we offer.
Eat well!
Nutrition is one of the most confusing aspects of "Living Healthy." Our goal is to help people learn to enjoy good foods and without feeling deprived. No weird diets, no funky supplements, just good food that is good for you!
Live fully!
This part of the total concept is huge! We want clients to understand that health is way bigger than eating and exercise. Being healthy is about living life and enjoying every second of the journey! Our programs are designed to drive clients toward setting goals that are just the right amount of uncomfortable. We host group trainings, clinics, and many other programs to get clients involved.
Feel good!
SELF Concepts wants to give back to the community. We want to challenge people to look at health globally. One healthy person makes small changes, but a healthy community can make HUGE changes!
Fitness is for everyone!
We have programs for persons of just about any fitness level, from beginners who want to begin an active and healthy lifestyle, to seasoned runners and triathletes. We are eager to help you achieve your personal best!

Gretchen Aguayo-Wood
Gretchen is a wife, a mother of two and an athlete in training. She is an integral part of the SELF team working in graphic design, advertising, and helping to coach some of the Couch 2 5K programs
“For several years I’ve been dabbling in 5Ks, one 10K and even a 15K without any real training, just finishing them. In 2005 I signed up to do my first Sprint Triathlon in Disney World on Mother’s Day Weekend. I bought a Tri for beginners book and followed the training to the tee. I was able to finish it but didn’t really enjoy it, I felt it was monumental and had no idea how to specifically train addressing my strengths and weaknesses. It took me 4 years and another Sprint to decide I did want to better my time and start some serious training.
Running has become a big part of my life. It’s ME time. It’s uncomplicated and completely satisfying. Sometimes it is very hard and sometimes my legs seem to want to go on forever. I’ve even become part of a “running community” and having people to share this with has been huge for me. The push and motivation from a running group has been very surprising and exciting. Can’t wait to see how far (and fast!!) I can go.”
Debbie Wroten
Becca’s mom and “right-hand woman,” Debbie is crucial to the working of SELF Concepts. Having started running after she turned 50, she offers a perspective and inspiration to everyone. You really can start at any age. Amongst her many hobbies and pastimes- Sewing, hiking, running, reading, knitting- Debbie finds lots of time to inspire new runners and encourage older ones. Working with the Couch 2 5K programs and helping out with many other programs as well keeps this woman active and, well, running!
“Exercise is a way to use up excess energy on some days and on other days to motivate me to get some energy”
Betsy Wildman
Betsy came to the love of running a little later in life. At age 42, she weighed 285 lbs and decided that she needed to change her life. The process began slowly with a diet change and then exercise. First was a C25k program and she ran her first 5K in 2008. Since that time, Betsy has competed in more 5ks, a 15K and a half marathon. Recently, Betsy has begun to incorporate other cross training activities into the exercise routine. Two of her new loves are cycling and swimming, which led to participation in triathlons. All of this was accomplished with the help of the coaching team of Self Concepts. They have inspired me to believe that I can do these things and have fun doing them. I always tell everyone I meet “if I can do this, so can you!”
Betsy is a lead coach for Couch 2 5K. Her insight, experience, and personal journey are the key to the bond she creates with new runners.
